So… Here’s the story:
DOWERHOUSE is a small design firm focused on accomplishing large goals:
Our goals… The goals of our clients… The goals of our construction partners… The goals of the community.
Meaningful communication is key.
In our residential projects, we understand the level of trust and openness between all parties that is necessary for a smooth construction process.
In our small commercial projects, we seek to understand the clients’ vision on the deepest possible level. Be it a restaurant, an office, a boutique, or a taco stand; we consider the impact that all design decisions can have.
In every project, we understand that great ideas can come from anywhere and at any time. We embark on a journey that begins at the first meeting and doesn’t end until the last stroke of touch up paint.
The relationship is always more precious than the design.
the founding message, march 2019:
In all of history, there could not have been many twelve year-olds with a drafting table… Let alone that many twelve year-olds with a drafting table as their second-most favored possession. So I consider myself blessed. Besides being a husband and a father, being an architect is the only thing I’ve ever wanted to be. It’s been a joyous pursuit just to get to the point of launching DOWERHOUSE, and it’s an honor to now see where this leads.
I love cities. I love main streets. I love staying at home most nights. This is the experience most people have, and this is the effortless nature that should be aimed for in any project. The comfort. The sense. The place that was always meant to exist.
Trained in a simultaneous curriculum of Urban Design and Architecture, my sensitivity is towards the balance of both. Raised in a family business, my sensitivity is further informed.
I spent my most formative professional years at a firm named Strada ( please give it a look, wonderful people! www.stradallc.com ) and gained a mountain of experience in managing and helping to design a variety of projects in and out of the Pittsburgh market. This was a lovely time in my life. During my Strada years I embarked on such milestones as: 1.) getting married, 2.) buying a house, 3.) having a daughter, 4.) …continuing to work all night, of course…, 5.) having a son, 6.) buying a new house because we have two kids now, and 7.) choosing to start anew.
I was called to climb a new mountain and conquer new lands. I was called to leave the familiar for the sake of a journey. To leave the ‘known’ for a pursuit of the ‘could-be.’ And what better describes a building project?
DOWERHOUSE would love to find out if the path you are starting down aligns with ours.
We wish you bright horizons regardless.
